MIDLAND - The fourth-seeded Lake Superior State women's tennis team opened the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 5-4 victory over No. 5 seed Mercyhurst on Friday morning. The Lakers (6-3) dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 1 seed Northwood later in the day.
