MIDLAND - No. 3 seed Ferris State defeated No. 5 seed Lake Superior State, 5-3, Saturday in the third-place match of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament.

Megan LaMothe posted a three-set victory in the No. 2 slot for LSSU's lone singles win. She and Alex Chiakmakis also won their No. 2 doubles match, 8-4.

The Lakers finished the regular season 7-6 overall and 5-4 in the GLIAC. They await a possible NCAA Tournament bid, which won't be announced until the spring.

FSU improved to 9-3 overall and 7-2 in league play.
