Nov. 1, 2006

BAY CITY - Lake Superior State senior Celina Grondin and junior Megan LaMothe were named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team, while junior Lindsay Adams received honorable mention in women's tennis for 2006.

Grondin, of Fleurimont, Que., earned her second straight first-team honor after finishing 12-3 at No. 1 singles. She and Adams posted an 8-7 record at No. 1 doubles.

Grondin's only singles losses included two to Ferris State's Molly Basha, who was named GLIAC Player of the Year, and one to Mercyhurst's Jennifer Daly, which she later avenged during the league tournament.

Megan LaMothe

LaMothe, of Troy, Mich., played some of LSSU's most-exciting matches of the season and finished 9-4 at No. 2 singles. She was paired with Alex Chiakmakis at No. 2 doubles and had an 8-3 record.

Lindsay Adams

Adams, of Grand Rapids, Mich., was 2-11 at No. 3 singles.

LSSU finished 7-6 overall and fourth in the GLIAC with a 5-4 record.
