FINDLAY, Ohio - The Lake Superior State volleyball team split during the first day of competition at the Findlay Tournament, losing 32-30, 30-26, 30-27, to Wheeling Jesuit and beating Tiffin, 30-18, 30-17, 30-22. The Lakers (3-3 overall) play North Alabama at noon and Bellarmine at 3 p.m. today. LSSU compiled a .359 team attack percentage against Tiffin (1-5) as Sara Hess and Jamie Groos led with 11 kills each. Samantha Gibbs and Brishia Stroven added eight kills each. Hess had no attack errors for a .611 percentage. She also totaled one block solo and four assists. Erin McLain contributed 20 assists, and Jessica Ewer had 16 digs. Stroven totaled 14 kills and a .370 attack percentage against Wheeling Jesuit (2-4). Groos added 10 kills, and McLain had 25 assists. Ewer finished with 30 digs, followed by Groos with 13 and Stroven with 12. McLain led in blocks with one solo and four assists. |
