FINDLAY, Ohio - The Lake Superior State volleyball team dropped 3-1 decisions to Bellarmine and North Alabama on Saturday and finished 1-3 at the Findlay Invitational. North Alabama won, 31-29, 30-15, 26-30, 30-21, and Bellarmine claimed a 26-30, 30-26, 30-27, 30-27 decision. North Alabama (3-4) took advantage of 14 service aces and three players with double-figure kill totals. Jamie Groos totaled nine kills, and Ali Jones and Samantha Gibbs added eight each to lead LSSU (3-5 overall). Erin McLain totaled 32 assists, and Jessica Ewer had 28 digs. Bellarmine posted an impressive 71 kills and .261 team attack percentage against the Lakers. Groos had 14 kills, Sara Hess 13 and Brishia Stroven 12 as LSSU totaled 53 team kills. McLain finished with 41 assists, and Ewer totaled 19 digs and four aces. The Lakers begin play at the Minnesota-Duluth Tournament against Minnesota State at 4:30 p.m. CST on Sept. 6. |
