SAULT STE. MARIE - Mercyhurst College concluded its three-match road swing through the Upper Peninsula with a 3-1 victory over Lake Superior State on Sunday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

Mercyhurst, which lost at Northern Michigan on Friday and Michigan Tech on Saturday, pulled away from a 1-1 deadlock and claimed a 30-20, 18-30, 30-26, 30-27 victory. MC improved to 13-5 overall and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

LSSU takes a 5-10 overall record and 1-3 GLIAC mark into Tuesday's home match at 7 p.m. against Northern Michigan.

Jamie Groos totaled 17 kills, 10 digs and two solo blocks to lead LSSU. Ali Jones added 16 kills and 10 digs, while Sara Hess contributed 10 kills and three block assists.

Samantha Gibbs finished with eight kills, a team-high .471 attack percentage and three block assists. Erin McLain totaled 48 assists, and Jessica Ewer had 26 digs.

LSSU struggled at the net in Game 4, hitting only .043, and had a team attack rate of .166 for the match. MC was a bit better, turning in an attack rate of .197.
