SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State volleyball team breezed to a Game 1 win, then came from behind to win Games 2 and 3 and sweep Mercyhurst, 30-13, 30-28, 32-30, in Friday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

LSSU (6-13 overall, 2-5 GLIAC) snapped a three-match losing skid and won a conference match at home for the first time this season. Mercyhurst dropped to 4-13 overall, 0-6 in the GLIAC.

LSSU posted a .199 attack percentage as Vanessa Vincent totaled 12 kills, Amy Molenaar 10 and Ashley Wyers nine. Kristy James contributed 36 assists, while Vincent and Courtney Dusnik led in digs with 17 each.

LSSU totaled 12 blocks to Mercyhurst's five. Wyers had two solo blocks and four assists, while Ashlee Buckley had one solo and three assists, and Molenaar chipped in five assists.

LSSU plays host to Gannon at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
