Ashland blanks LSSU to remain in contention for GLIAC title

ASHLAND, Ohio - No. 12 Ashland remained in contention for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division title by blanking Lake Superior State, 30-17, 30-23, 30-18, on Saturday.

GLIAC Player of the Year candidate Mary Kate Glowe totaled 18 kills, 10 digs and three block assists for the Eagles (19-3 overall, 8-2 GLIAC), who currently trail No. 10 Hillsdale by one game.

None of LSSU's hitters reached double figures in kills as Sara Hess and Jamie Groos led the Lakers with eight kills each. Erin McLain totaled 25 assists, and Groos had 13 digs for LSSU. Ali Jones added 11 digs.

The Lakers (6-16 overall, 2-9 GLIAC) return home after playing on the road during the past two weeks. They play host to Davenport at 7 p.m. Thursday and eighth-ranked Grand Valley State at 7 p.m. Friday.
