SAULT STE. MARIE - Sophomore Ali Jones tied her career high by totaling 20 kills to lead the Lake Superior State volleyball team to a 30-21, 30-24, 30-23 non-conference victory over Davenport on Thursday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

Jones' effort was a career-high for a three-set match. Her previous 20-kill performance was in a four-set contest.

Holly Orban added 10 kills, and Samantha Gibbs had eight as the Lakers (7-16) dominated at the net. Erin McLain finished with 22 assists, and Ashley Purvis had 17. Jessica Ewer led in digs with 11, followed by Jamie Groos with eight.

The Lakers continue a three-match homestand at 7 p.m. Friday against eighth-ranked Grand Valley State.

Davenport dropped to 10-23.
