SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State volleyball team concluded the 2006 campaign with a 30-26, 30-20, 30-28 loss to Northwood on Sunday at Bud Cooper Gym.

Junior Ashley Wyers led the Lakers (5-22 overall, 2-16 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) with 17 kills and two block assists. Junior Jamie Groos added nine kills and four block assists, followed by freshman Sara Hess with eight kills.

Sophomore Erin McLain led in assists with 23, followed by freshman Liz Holden with 13. Freshman Jessica Ewer totaled 26 digs.

Northwood improved to 16-10 overall, 10-8 in league play.

Wyers, who missed last season with a knee injury, finished the year with 309 kills and a .221 attack percentage.

McLain totaled 799 assists for the season and vaulted from ninth to third on LSSU's all-time assist list with 1,922.
