BAY CITY, Mich. -- Lake Superior State junior middle hitter Ashley Wyers received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in volleyball on Friday.

Wyers, of White Cloud, Mich., was a medical red-shirt for the 2005 season due to pre-season knee-surgery. This year, she started 94 out of 95 games and totaled a team-leading 309 kills and .211 attack percentage. She also totaled 51 blocks for the season.

GLIAC special honors went to Player of the Year Taryn Rudland and Coach of the Year Chris Gravel of Hillsdale, Libero of the Year Alyson Riley of Grand Valley State, Freshman of the Year Kelly Jorgenson of Michigan Tech.

The Lakers finished the 2006 season 5-22 overall and 2-16 in the GLIAC. They had no seniors on this year's squad.
